Enjoy it now, or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant before serving. This Rosé from Rioja is made from a blend of white and red grapes: 50% Macabeo, 25% Sauvignon Blanc, and 25% Grenache. It starts off with strong citrus aromas, such as lemon zest, evolving into playful flowery notes. You can also find hints of red berries, dried fruits, and rose petals, reflecting its light pink colour. The Alonso and Pedrajo winery was founded in 2011, the result of a union between two families. It is located in the town of Villalba de Rioja, in the shadows of the Obarenes Mountain Range, where the Mediterranean climate meets the Atlantic one. The soils here are clay-calcareous, making them ideal for growing voluminous white grapes with strong minerality. The Suane Rosada Reserva is fresh and fruit-forward in the mouth, with superb structure. Before bottling, it spent 13 months ageing in French oak, imparting suggestions of dried herbs and tobacco, and was fermented with native yeasts. It can age for a while longer in the bottle. Up front, look for flavours of fresh red berries, lemon zest, and ripe orchard fruits. Consider pairing this Rosé with chicken, tomato salad, or some light Spanish tapas.
