Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. Alpha Estate is a Greek winery located in the wine region of Macedonia, in the PDO Amyndeon, since 1995, when it was founded by Angelos Iatridis and Makis Mavridis. Over the years, the company has greatly expanded its vineyards from 7 to 220 hectares and has quickly achieved great critical and commercial success with its excellent wines. The Ecosystem Single Block Aghia Kiriaki is produced with Assyrtiko grapes from the Aghia Kiriaki vineyard, planted in 2006 in the Florina wine-growing area at 535 meters above sea level. Here, the vines benefit from a cool climate and northwest exposure, and are rooted in sandy clay soils resting on limestone conglomerates. After harvesting and a brief maceration on the skins, fermentation takes place in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts, and the finished wine then ages on the lees for eight months. In the glass, the wine reveals a crystalline straw-yellow color, enhanced by greenish highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and complex, with initial notes of lemon, grapefruit, and pear followed by floral and mineral notes. On the palate, it is lively and refreshing, with a creamy texture and crisp acidity. It is elegant, balanced, and well-structured, with a finish that evokes savory and mineral notes. It is the ideal wine with seafood, octopus, and calamari, and pairs well with tasty Greek salads.
