Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. Founded in 1995 by Angelos Iatridis and Makis Mavridis, Alpha Estate is a prestigious Greek winery located in the PDO Amyndeon. The company is renowned for its wide range of excellent wines produced from its 220 hectares of vineyards, managed sustainably, with respect for the terroir and the pure expression of the grape varieties, and using cutting-edge technology. Xinomavro grapes come from vineyards located on the Amyndeon Plateau in the Northwest Macedonia region, in the two parcels Turtles and Hedgehog. The former faces Mount Voras at an altitude of 660 meters and enjoys a northwest exposure, while the latter has a northerly exposure and an altitude of 690 meters. After harvesting and cold maceration, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, and the finished wine rests on the lees for two months. In the glass, the wine reveals a bright salmon pink color. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and fruity, with notes of strawberries and small red berries alternating with floral hints of rose petals. On the palate, it is elegant and lively, with a medium body and refreshing acidity. The finish is long and gracefully fruity. It is very versatile when paired with food: try it with Thai dishes, gazpacho, crab salad, or spaghetti with cherry tomatoes.
