Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Renovated in 2011 after being expropriated by the Soviet regime in 1949, Cantina Vinicola Luca has been producing the Carpe Diem wine line since 2014. Production is limited and focused on high quality. The company's vineyards extend over 10 hectares, planted with a mix of local and international varietals for the production of their award-winning Moldovan wines. Carpe Diem Cuvée 19/11 is a blend of the native Rara Neagră grape and Pinot Noir. The hand-picked grapes from select vineyards undergo light pressing before vinification. The finished wine then ages for a year in oak barrels. This maturation process adds structure and aromatic complexity. The result is an elegant and harmonious wine, capable of aging for several years in the cellar but excellent for enjoying now. In the glass, the wine reveals a clear and brilliant ruby color. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant, with notes of raspberry, cherry, and small red berries, followed by spicy notes. On the palate, it is soft and rounded, with a medium body and velvety tannins. It is fruity and fresh, with a lively acidity and a long, delicately spicy finish. It is versatile when paired with food: it goes well with fatty fish, medium-aged cheeses, and roasted white meats.
