Drink it now or cellar for up to 5 years. No need to decant. Founded in 1904 northwest of Reims, in the heart of the Saint-Thierry massif, the Cuillier Champagne house is now run by Patrick Cuillier with his son Vincent, who also launched two cuvées under his name in 2020, in addition to the winery's 6 cuvées. The estate covers approximately 6.5 hectares of vineyards located in Pouillon, Chenay, and Trigny, in the Marne area. La Grande Réserve is an elegant and balanced champagne made with a classic blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay in equal parts. The grapes are selected and harvested manually and the wine ages for 48 months in the cellar on its lees. The wine displays an intense golden color, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose it reveals a mature and complex aromatic profile with notes of apple, pear, and dried fruit, followed by hints of honey and brioche. On the palate, it is round and mineral, lively and fresh with a savory touch and a good concentration of flavors. The bubbles give it a creamy and velvety texture. The finish is long and recalls notes of exotic fruit. It pairs deliciously with grilled giant prawns and sautéed scallops.
