Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for half an hour. Located in the wine-producing heart of Piedmont, in the province of Cuneo, the Damilano winery was officially founded in 1935, but the winemaking activity dates back to the late 19th century, when Giuseppe Borgogno, great-grandfather of the current owners, laid the foundations of the company by starting to produce the first bottles. Lecinquevigne is a classic example of a Barolo produced according to the traditional Langhe practice of blending grapes from different plots throughout the appellation. In this case, the Nebbiolo grapes come from five different Barolo terroirs to achieve perfect balance and complexity. After harvesting and temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine rests in barrel for approximately two years before bottling. The result is an elegant and expressive wine with a bright, clear ruby color and garnet highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and intense, with floral notes of violet and rose (typical of the grape variety) interspersed with hints of plum, red berries, spices, and some earthy and leathery nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, balanced and fresh, with firm yet ripe and well-integrated tannins. It is complex, smooth, and elegant, with a long, warm, and persistent finish. Try it with wild boar and mushroom stew.
