Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in the Côte d'Or region of Burgundy, Domaine Changarnier is a family-run winery with a long history and tradition dating back to the 18th century. Today, the estate extends over approximately 5.5 hectares of vineyards spread across the municipalities of Meursault, Monthelie, Auxey-Duresses, and Pommard, producing excellent regional wines from ten different appellations. Production is limited but beautifully reflects the elegance of Burgundy wines. The Chardonnay grapes are selected and harvested by hand from a fenced plot (hence the name Le Clos, meaning fenced in French) located in front of the estate. The vines, planted in 1990, benefit from southern exposure and silty clay soil. In the glass, the wine reveals a bright straw-yellow color with light silver highlights. Its aromatic profile is lively and fragrant, with fresh notes of citrus and white fruit, wildflowers, and almond. On the palate, it is lean and pure, crisp and elegant, with vibrant citrus acidity and a delicate, creamy texture. The finish is long, fresh, and slightly savory. Try it with soft French cheeses like Chaource or Brillat-Savarin, with Pad Thai or fish in creamy sauces.
