Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located in the Côte de Beaune in the village of Monthelie, Domaine Potinet-Ampeau is a winery with 10 hectares of vineyards spread across 18 different appellations. Since 2003, the company has been led by Vincent Durrieu, who manages it with great care and attention, favoring a traditional approach to produce great Burgundy wines capable of aging for decades. The Chardonnay grapes are sourced from one of Meursault's most prestigious Premier Crus, Les Charmes, located on a gentle slope on the southern side of the Côte d'Or on thin, well-drained, rocky, and calcareous soil. Here, the vines enjoy very favorable conditions, with sun exposure that favors slow ripening and the development of a rich aromatic profile. In the glass, the Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes reveals an intense, brilliant golden color. Its nose is complex, with layered notes of white fruit and nuts, followed by mineral, and buttery hints. On the palate, it is generous, round, and balanced, with a medium body and a smooth texture. It is rich and elegant, with a long, persistent finish reminiscent of light brioche notes. It pairs very well with food: it is excellent with roasted white fish, poultry served with creamy white sauces, soft cheeses, seafood risotto, and four-cheese pasta.
