Mezena Vinho Verde Rose is a fresh, lightly sparkling rosé from Calcada Wines, one of the oldest and most respected producers in the Vinho Verde DOC. Founded in 1917 in Amarante and now in its third generation, Calcada Wines has been crafting still and sparkling wines for over a century. The Vinhao grape gives the wine its striking salmon colour and a naturally fruity, aromatic character, while the region's signature high acidity and light effervescence keep everything fresh and lively. At 8.5% ABV, it is one of the most refreshing and guilt-free rosés you will find, and its versatility at the table makes it a genuine crowd-pleaser. Vineyard & Production Sourced from vineyards in the Amarante sub-region of the Vinho Verde DOC, approximately 10 minutes from the entrance to the Douro region. The soils are granite with some shale, and the Atlantic influence produces wines of marked minerality and high freshness. Grapes are hand-selected at optimal ripeness, de-stemmed, and lightly pressed. The juice is decanted by gravity before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats over two weeks. The wine is filtered and stabilised before bottling. Tasting Notes Light salmon in colour with a slight natural effervescence. The nose is fruity and aromatic with fresh red fruit character. On the palate, it is clean and lively with vivid acidity and a pleasant, refreshing finish. Best served well chilled.
