La Colombaia Amarone della Valpolicella is a powerful yet approachable Amarone, offering layers of ripe fruit, spice and complexity. With its rich flavours of plum, cherry, mocha and dried fruit, this wine is a classic example of Amarone—bold, warming and deeply satisfying. Crafted using the traditional appassimento method by historic Verona wine house Giacomo Montresor, this wine delivers exceptional quality at an outstanding price. Why You'll Love It This is authentic Amarone della Valpolicella from Giacomo Montresor, one of Verona's historic wine houses founded in 1892. The traditional appassimento method sees grapes dried for four months until January, concentrating sugars and flavours to create Amarone's signature richness. With 2 years maturation in Slavonian oak casks and small barrels, this wine offers remarkable depth and complexity. A balanced and very approachable style that delivers both power and elegance at exceptional value for Amarone. Meet the Producer Founded in 1892, Giacomo Montresor is one of Verona's historic wine houses. Production This Amarone is crafted from a traditional blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes. Hand-harvested in late October, the grapes undergo the traditional appassimento method—dried for four months until January after harvest. The dried grapes are then crushed and fermented in stainless steel for four months. The wine is matured for 2 years in Slavonian oak casks and small barrels, developing richness and depth while maintaining balance. Tasting Notes On the nose, this Amarone is ripe, warm and generous, with aromas of plum, cherry, roasted coffee beans and dried fruits. The palate is full-bodied and richly flavoured, combining berry and plum fruit with wild cherry acidity and a touch of dark chocolate. Supple tannins and a hint of s
