Domaine Roger Belland’s La Fussière Premier Cru showcases the exceptional terroir of the Maranges village. This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes, harvested from the steep, grassy slopes of the 1.25-hectare La Fussière vineyard. It opens with a bouquet of red fruits, with subtle hints of purple flowers, spice, and sun-baked earth. Domaine Roger Belland is a family-run estate, now in its sixth generation. Its headquarters can be found in the appellation of Santenay in Burgundy, but its vineyards span all of the important vineyards in the region. Known for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking practices, the domain is now spearheaded by Roger and Julie, a father and daughter duo. This Premier Cru exhibits a rich palate: it is medium-bodied with velvety tannins and vibrant acidity, offering flavours of ripe red berries, cassis, and a touch of slate minerality. The finish is long and elegant, with lingering notes of ripe raspberry, earth, and spice. It was grown in clay-limestone soils, which contribute to the wine’s distinct character. La Fussière will pair beautifully with roasted chicken, lamb, or a plate of pungent, hard cheese.
