Coming from an old family of winemakers, Jean-Max Roger began his activity in the 70s, dedicating himself to the 4 hectares of vineyards he inherited from his parents. Over the years he has acquired new plots including those in the Sancerre AOC area, where mainly Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir are grown. The attentive work in the vineyard and the cellar results in wines that are a great expression of this extraordinary terroir and are characterized by fantastic freshness and elegance. Jean-Max Roger's Sancerre “Cuvée Les Caillottes” is produced with Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the Bué and Amigny vineyards, from a terroir with small stones (called ‘caillottes’). The wine is leaner than the other Sancerre produced by the winery while maintaining great elegance and a delicious fruity character. After fermentation, the wines remain on the lees for 4-6 months. In the glass, this Sancerre shows a straw yellow color with delicate greenish reflections. The nose is intense with citrus notes and white flowers. It is a fresh, rich and savory wine, with a clean and lively taste and a long and persistent finish. It is excellent with seafood appetizers and fresh goat cheese.
