Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Jim Barry Winery in Australia was founded by Jim and his wife, Nancy, in 1959. Today, the company's vineyards span more than 320 hectares in the Clare Valley, and it produces an impressive range of top-quality wines. The Riesling grapes come from the Lodge Hill vineyard, originally a farm called Wolta Wolta, dating back to 1839, which Jim Barry purchased in 1977. Located in the Eastern Ranges of the Clare Valley at approximately 480 meters above sea level, the vineyard enjoys a unique microclimate with excellent exposure, warm daytime temperatures, and cool nights. These conditions favor slow ripening and the development of a broad aromatic profile and a pronounced acidity. The Lodge Hill Riesling is a lively, citrusy white wine that reveals intense aromas of lime juice, green apple, and cut grass, interspersed with subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is juicy, crisp, and pure. It has a bright, citrusy acidity that refreshes the palate and a long, generous, and fruity finish. It is excellent as an aperitif, but even better with oysters, sushi, crispy deep-fried sage leaves, and vegetable tempura.
