Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. The Slovenian winery Marjan Simčič has a long winemaking tradition. It was in fact founded in the second half of the 19th century by Jozef Simčič. Today, Marjan, the fifth generation of the family, manages over 20 hectares of vineyards straddling the border between Italy and Slovenia and produces organic wines widely appreciated by the public and critics. The Pinot Noir grapes are rigorously selected and harvested by hand from the Medana Jama vineyard, planted with vines with an average age of 25 years, which benefit from calcareous-marly soils and an east/south-east exposure. Fermentation occurs spontaneously in conical oak vats with maceration on the skins. The finished wine then ages in barrique for 29 months. The wine has a clear and bright color with ruby-red tones. The nose reveals complex and broad aromas of cherries and small red fruits, orange peel, and hints of spices. On the palate, it is velvety and elegant, harmonious and rich, fresh and well-balanced. It has lively acidity and a nice fruity concentration. The finish is long and delicately spicy. It is excellent with mushroom lasagne or risotto and also works well with duck.
