Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is a winery in the Douro Valley with three hundred years of history and traditions. Owned by the Portuguese Royal House until 1725, it has passed through the hands of various Portuguese families. It is now owned by the Amorim family and extends over approximately 120 hectares of land. Today, the estate also includes an interesting wine museum. The Reserva Terroir Tinto is a blend of equal parts Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, with minor additions of Tinta Cão and Tinta Roriz, hand-picked from vineyards located in the Cima Corgo wine district on schist soils. After manual harvesting and vinification, the finished wine is aged in a mix of French oak (77%) and concrete tanks (23%) for 9 months. In the glass, the wine reveals an intense, deep color and a broad, lively aromatic profile with notes of blackberry, black cherry, and ripe wild berries, followed by hints of leather, wood, and licorice. On the palate, it is robust and rich, juicy and smooth, with silky tannins and well-balanced acidity. The finish is long and concentrated. It pairs well with herb-roasted lamb or game.
