Drink it now or cellar for up to 30 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Founded in 1920, Azelia is a family-run Piedmontese winery located in the Langhe, in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto. The owners, the Scavino family, have been producing excellent wines from local grape varieties for five generations. Today, the vineyards extend over approximately 16 hectares and are cultivated with great respect for nature and minimal intervention. The Nebbiolo grapes come from approximately 85-year-old vines, planted on white limestone soils at the top of a steep hill in Castiglione Falletto, approximately 285 meters above sea level, with a southern exposure. After harvesting, vinification takes place spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, and the finished wine then ages for two years in large barrels. Bricco Fiasco is one of the winery's historic crus, first produced in 1978. In the glass, it reveals a clear and brilliant garnet color. On the nose, it is fragrant and expressive, displaying floral notes of dried roses and fruity aromas of ripe cherry and plum, followed by earthy hints of tobacco and leather, and some light spicy touches. On the palate, it is rich and smooth, fresh and concentrated. It has a robust structure and ripe tannins. It is balanced and elegant with a long, warm finish. Try it with braised venison or mature cheese.
