Macán is the result of a prestigious collaboration between Tempos Vega Sicilia and Benjamin de Rothschild, combining two legendary winemaking traditions. Based in Rioja Alta, the estate focuses on producing modern, terroir-driven wines that reflect the depth and nuance of Tempranillo while embracing a refined, international style. Production The 2020 vintage is crafted exclusively from Tempranillo grapes grown in selected plots across Rioja Alta. After careful harvesting and sorting, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation in barrels and tanks. Ageing occurs over 15 months in fine-grain French oak—mostly new—with a portion in one-wine barrels, allowing for subtle integration of oak and preservation of fruit purity. Tasting notes Aromas of blackberry, crushed stone, and violet lead into a medium-bodied palate with ripe black plum, hints of tobacco, and earthy undertones. The tannins are fine and well-integrated, supporting a core of fresh, expressive fruit. The finish is long and balanced, with a savoury edge and gentle oak spice.
