Enjoy now or cellar for a few more years. Decanting is optional, up to 30 minutes before serving. This Pinot Noir is a vibrant, ruby-red wine with an inviting bouquet of red hedgerow berries, ripe cherries, and subtle earthy notes of mushroom. It is an excellent showcase of France’s premier Pinot Noir region, using grapes sourced from three separate parcels, from estate-owned vineyards in Pommard and Volnay. Domaine A.F. Gros is a small-scale family winery, created in 1988 when the Gros family split the estate. This branch was taken over by Anne-Francoise, a renowned winemaker, who handed over the reins to her children in 2019. It is one of three Gros-owned estates founded in Vosne-Romanee, spanning 11 hectares in some of Burgundy’s finest appellations, such as Pommard, Volnay, and Beaujolais. This is a silky, light- to medium-bodied affair, with a hint of that famed Pommard attack and sharp flavours of cherry, raspberry, and cranberry, supported by crisp acidity. Before release, the wine spent 12 months ageing in oak barrels. It is made for enjoying in its youth and inherits a vibrant energy from the calcareous soils where it was grown. It will pair wonderfully with poultry, charcuterie, and vegetarian pasta dishes.
