Warwick Professor Black Pitch Black is a classical Cape blend inspired by the wines that came from the Simonsberg in the middle of the previous century. Made from a blend of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Cabernet Franc, 13% Cinsault, 10% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec, this wine honours the traditional style of blending classical Bordeaux varieties with Cinsault, as was the norm more than 50 years ago. A tribute to heritage winemaking from one of Stellenbosch's most respected estates. Why You'll Love It This is a unique Cape blend that celebrates South African winemaking heritage from Warwick Estate, one of Stellenbosch's benchmark producers. The inclusion of unwooded Cinsault (a traditional Cape variety) alongside Bordeaux grapes creates remarkable freshness and complexity. With 18 months in French oak and 10-year ageing potential, this wine offers exceptional quality and character at an outstanding price. Meet the Producer Warwick Estate is one of Stellenbosch's most respected wineries, located on the slopes of the Simonsberg mountain. The estate is renowned for producing world-class wines that honour both tradition and innovation, with a particular focus on Cape blends and Cabernet-based wines. The Cinsault remains unwooded to preserve its bright, fresh character, which adds a unique piercing freshness to the final blend. Tasting Notes Dark berries, wild strawberries, violets and herbs fill the glass. The palate is rich and textured with fine-grained tannins and a bright piercing freshness delivered by the unwooded Cinsault component. The finish is dark and brooding with concentration and lingering aftertaste. Ready to enjoy now but will continue to develop well over the next decade. Perfect Pairings Pairs beautifully with roast lamb, slow-cooked oxtail, grilled steaks, venison, o
