Octomore 10.3 from Bruichladdich was distilled in 2013 using crop from the 2013 harvest. For the first time, this 10.3 variation has been matured for 6 years exclusively in ex-American Oak. These top quality casks have been hand picked for this top quality dram and sat next to Octomore 10.1 in the warehouse - Octomore 10.1 and 10.3 are very similar but the flavour produced are very different. Aromas of earthy peat smoke, dry and a little medicinal containing lemon drop and thyme nuances. The palate shows off a little salty salinity on the lips and more honey with lemon on the palate before the peat comes in with the oak and heat from the high cask strength.
