Abel Mendoza Monge Grano a Grano Tempranillo 2020

A deep, vibrant cherry-red Rioja crafted by Abel Mendoza and Maite Fernández, showcasing purity, elegance, and authenticity. Tasting profile The nose opens with generous aromas of ripe black fruits—plum, cassis, and blackberry—layered with floral notes, subtle oak, and toasted spice. The palate is full-bodied yet balanced, with vibrant fruit at its core, smooth tannins, and refined oak integration, leading to a long, harmonious finish. Food pairings An excellent match for classic Rioja dishes and beyond. Enjoy with grilled or roasted red meats such as beef and lamb, hearty stews, or even savoury fish dishes enhanced with rich sauces. Producer profile – Abel Mendoza & Maite Fernández Since the late 1980s, Abel Mendoza and Maite Fernández have been crafting small-batch, artisanal wines from old-vine vineyards in the foothills of the Cantabrian Mountains near San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Rioja. Guided by meticulous vineyard work and minimal intervention, their wines express the unique soils and microclimates of the region with honesty and precision. Abel Mendoza’s philosophy avoids excessive oak, allowing purity of fruit, varietal character, and vintage expression to shine. Every bottle reflects the duo’s dedication to creating authentic Rioja wines that embody elegance, finesse, and terroir.

Château Latour Martillac Rouge, (Magnum) 2020

Thanks to the long involvement of generations of the Kressmann family, and the recognition shown in 1953 by the classification of Graves, the wines of Château Latour-Martillac feature among the best of Pessac-Léognan. The 2020 Rouge has a deep ruby colour. The nose is complex, offering layered aromas of ripe black fruits, including blackcurrant, blackberry, and plum, accompanied by hints of violet, tobacco, cedar, and a touch of graphite. There are also subtle undertones of spice, a result of careful oak aging, which adds depth without overwhelming the fruit character. On the palate, the 2020 is structured and well-balanced, with fine-grained tannins and refreshing acidity. The flavours mirror the nose, with notes of dark berries, cassis, and plum, interwoven with earthy, mineral elements and a slight smokiness. The finish is long and persistent, with lingering notes of dark chocolate and spice, showcasing the wine’s aging potential.
