Akashi Japanese Single Malt 50cl
This single malt from Akashi is made from 100% Scottish barley, aged in bourbon and sherry casks for 3 years. Producing a whisky with a powerful nose of vanilla and smoke. The palate is round and long with notes of leather and red apples. The White Oak distillery was the first in Japan to be granted an official license to distill whisky in 1919. They import all their barley from Scotland and have become masters of emulating the Scottish style.
Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky
Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky is one of the more distinctive expressions in the Nikka lineup, made entirely from malted barley but distilled in the brand’s signature Coffey stills — equipment normally used for grain whisky. This unusual approach gives it a character that sits somewhere between classic malt richness and the smooth, rounded profile of Coffey‑distilled spirits. It reflects Nikka’s long history of experimentation, rooted in Masataka Taketsuru’s mission to blend Scottish technique with Japanese precision. Its aroma shows soft vanilla, gentle oak, ripe stone fruit and a touch of caramel. On the palate, it offers a smooth, creamy texture with notes of toffee, peach, light spice and a subtle biscuit‑like maltiness that sets it apart from traditional single malts. The finish is warm, mellow and lightly sweet, making it an approachable yet distinctive whisky that showcases the innovative side of Japanese distillation.
