Akashi-Tai, Japanese Sake, Honjozo Tokubetsu, 15% vol - 72cl
A very lightly fortified Tokubetsu (special) sake, this makes a great alternative to fuller white wines like Viognier or Pinot Gris. It has delicious full umami flavours but is fresh enough to go with a wide variety of dishes. Food pairing: A superb pairing for seafood or teriyaki flavoured dishes. Tuck into this Sake with a hearty cheeseboard including cheddar and Comté.
Vieux Pineau des Charentes, Château de Montifaud
Excellent and very underrated apéritif from the Cognac region of France. A blend of fresh grape juice from Colombard grapes and wonderfully smooth cognac, it has freshness, a hint of sweetness and a clean finish.
