AltoLandon Mil Historias Organic Malbec 2024

High‑altitude vineyards, extreme diurnal shifts, organic farming and a winemaker determined to push boundaries. This is Mil Historias Malbec , crafted by Rosalia Molina at Bodegas Altolandon in the wild, elevated plains of Manchuela. At 1,100 metres above sea level, the vines grow in conditions that test their limits, producing fruit of remarkable intensity, freshness and purity. The result is a Spanish Malbec with depth, lift and a vivid sense of place, shaped by native yeasts, minimal intervention and ageing split between French oak and clay amphorae. A wine born from altitude, biodiversity and meticulous care. Why You'll Love It This is Malbec with altitude‑driven energy and organic clarity. It delivers powerful dark fruit wrapped in floral lift, spice and natural freshness, offering a style that feels both bold and beautifully refined. The combination of amphora and oak ageing adds texture without heaviness, allowing the fruit to shine. Vegan, organic and full of character, it is a bottle that stands apart from more conventional expressions. Vineyard and Production The grapes come from a 20‑year‑old organic and biodynamic vineyard set on a flat plain surrounded by mountains, where cool nights and long sunny days create perfect balance. Hand‑harvested after mid‑October, the fruit undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, gentle extraction and extended skin contact. Ageing takes place in third‑use French oak and clay amphorae, giving complexity, structure and a subtle earthiness while preserving purity. Natura l stabilisation during the region’s freezing winter completes the process. Tasting Notes Expect concentrated flavours of blackberry, blueberry and plum layered with violet, rose and rosemary. Notes of cocoa, mint, earth, espresso, tobacco, dark chocolate and black pepper add depth and intrigue. Fine tannins and lively acidity give structure and lift, creating a finish that is long, complex and expressive. Perfect Pairings A superb match for lamb

Raats Dolomite Cabernet Franc 2022

Raats Dolomite Cabernet Franc is a vibrant, elegant and deeply characterful red from the granitic Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch, one of South Africa's most exciting terroirs for the variety. Crafted by Bruwer Raats, widely regarded as one of the Cape's most gifted winemakers, this is Cabernet Franc of real purity, minerality and finesse. Why You'll Love It Founded in 2000, Raats Family Wines has built its reputation on a singular focus: excellence through specialisation in Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Bruwer Raats identified the unique potential of the decomposed dolomite granite soils in Polkadraai Hills early on, and the Dolomite Cabernet Franc is the expression of that vision. Regarded as one of the finest examples of the variety in the southern hemisphere, this is a wine that rewards those who appreciate elegance, complexity and a genuine sense of place. Vineyard & Production Sourced exclusively from vineyards planted on decomposed dolomite granite soils in Polkadraai Hills, Stellenbosch, which impart freshness, vibrant acidity and a distinct mineral character. Grapes are hand-harvested in February at optimal ripeness and triple hand-sorted before crushing. A five-day cold soak on skins precedes fermentation at 28 degrees, followed by basket pressing and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for 14 months in French 300-litre barrels with no new oak, preserving purity and elegance. Tasting Notes Dark and red cherry aromas layered with spice and herbaceous notes. The palate shows dark berries, graphite and a hint of wet-stone minerality, leading to a soft, velvet finish. Floral and approachable, yet balanced and complex with real depth. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for game birds in red wine sauce, beef fillet and pork loin. Also excellent with duck breast, mushroom-based dishes and aged hard cheeses. Grape Variety Cabernet Franc 100%
