Bottled February 2009 Tasting Note Nose : Gristy smoked barley, kippers with a salted butter, peppered bite; Taste : The delivery is youthful and barely reaching puberty then suddenly an intensely malty ascendancy followed by a healthy close of drier oaks; Finish : A sublime finale for its sheer delicacy and elegance; the peat no more than oozes, there are cups galaore of sugarless medium roast Mysore and finally, as a bourbony trail is discovered, soft liquorice and molassed sugar - easily the highlight of the experience; one of the best finishes of the year...
Smogen 8 Year Old Single Malt 50cl
Smogen in its purest format is about wave lashed smooth granite, high winds and fresh air in abundance and here it is, the whisky that sums all of that up. Smogen in its whisky guise as the second edition of the 9 year old vatting made from seven first fill ex bourbon barrels and one ex sherry hogshead, offering purity of character at high density. Skal! Made with heavily peated Optic barley. Casks filled Spring 2012 and bottled October 2020.
