Amrut Peated Indian Single Malt
Amrut Peated Indian single malt whisky is made from selected Indian barley grown at the feet of the Himalayas, nurtured by the waters flowing there and cultivated by old and traditional agricultural practices. It is carefully mashed and distilled in small batches to preserve the natural aroma and matured in oak barrels in a unique tropical condition,at an altitude of 3,000 feet above sea level at Bangalore, the garden city of India. To retain the natural characteristics of this oak aged Indian Malt Whisky, we do not chill filter, some haze may therefore be noticed in the product. Amrut presents this product as a humble tribute to the Indian farmer, who has grown this barley with care and affection with which he has tilled the soil Nose : Unusually dry peat; not dissimilar to peak reek absorbed by an old leather arm chair, a hint of citrus too; Taste : Despite the nose, the immediate sensation is one of being caressed by molassed sugar and then a ratching up of the peat notes. As they get more forceful, so the experience becomes that little bit drier and spicier, though not without the molasses refusing to give way; Finish : You can tell the quality of the distilate and the barrels it has been matured in by the crystalline depth to the finish. Everything is clear on the palate and the butterscotch vanillas wrap the phenols for a comfortable and clean finale
Hicks & Healeys Finest Cornish Single Malt Whiskey
In 2003, a handshake between 2 local forward thinking independent family owned businesses, led to what is considered today the very first action in the revival of whiskey production in England. Did you know? That Cornwall has the oldest stocks of English Whiskey? Although they did not bring their's to market first they, Hicks and Healey are sitting on the oldest stocks of English Whiskey! This partnership was forged by St Austell Brewery, founded Walter Hicks in 1851 and Healeys which was established in 1980 by David Healey. This is made from the Maris Otter Cornish barley and expertly brewed by St Austell Brewery and then distilled and matured by Healeys. Expect spicy notes, honey and barley amongst hints of cocoa, caramel and delicate fruits that lead to a vanilla finish.
