An Iconic Speyside 2011 The Octave 10 Year Old 53.7%
Part of The Octave series from Duncan Taylor this single malt was first distilled in 2011 at 'An Iconic Distillery' it was then left to rest and mature for 10 years in oak casks. This bottle is from cask no. 2932119 which only produced 86 bottles when bottled in 2021. The Octave series was produced with Duncan Taylors research that stemmed from the simple promise that there is more wood interaction with whisky over a shorter period of time in a small cask than a large cask, therefore allowing a more rapid melding of wood, air and alcohol. After a second maturation the octave casks have refined the whisky, enhancing its hue, taste, form and character. The flavour profile is gently expanded, a little more sophisticated with the commanding presence of a mature, well balanced Scotch Whisky.
GlenAllachie 15 Year Old
It’s now almost two years since they have formed the GlenAllachie Distillers Company, bringing the distillery back into private ownership. In that time, they have opened a Visitor’s Centre, added two warehouses, grown from seven to 21 employees and their GlenAllachie and MacNair’s whiskies are now recognised as outstanding malts, receiving numerous medals and awards across both ranges. It’s now time for them to expand the GlenAllachie core range and showcase more of what their whisky have to offer. Their Master Distiller, Billy Walker, has been working tirelessly on this new expression since day one; evaluating casks and refining recipes to create something special. They are proud to present the jewel in their crown; the GlenAllachie 15 years old. On the nose it is overflowing with aromas of raisins, butterscotch and sweet spice. On the palate it is a rainbow of sweet spices, raisins and butterscotch develops to banana, orange peel and dark chocolate.
