André Clouet Silver, Brut Nature Champagne, Grand Cru à Bouzy
Despite having no dosage (the mix of cane sugar and wine, without which most champagnes would be unpalatable), the fruit in this Pinot wine is excellent. Packed with delicious biscuity flavours yet as dry as a Chablis.
Pol Roger, Brut Réserve NV
Pol Roger Brut Réserve is a classic Champagne that immediately charms with aromas of white flowers, crisp green apple, brioche, and a subtle mineral edge. The palate is bright and fresh, with stone fruits, a gentle nuttiness, and just a touch of honey rounding out the lively acidity. Bottles destined for the UK get an extra six months’ ageing after disgorgement, making them beautifully ready to drink on release - though a few years in the cellar will add even more depth and complexity. The cuvée is crafted from 30 base wines drawn from a wide range of vineyards, vintages, and the region’s three main grape varieties. Pinot Noir (from villages in the Montagne de Reims) brings structure and depth; Chardonnay (from Épernay and the Côte des Blancs) adds elegance and finesse; while Pinot Meunier (from the Vallée de la Marne) contributes freshness and charm. Around 25% reserve wines are included, with the blend aged four years before release.
