Angels Nectar PX Sherry Cask Edition
This is a highland single malt has been matured, as the name suggests, in former Pedro Ximenez sherry barriques for six years. The casks have delivered a lively sweet sherried dram. The casks were purchased for this bottling directly from a bodega in Spain and filled them at a distillery in Perthshire in 2017. The colour is a glorious bronze. On the nose the spirit shines first. The taste delivers the sweetness of royal icing, dried raisins and mixed peel, from the maturation, but lighter in style than our Angels’ Nectar Oloroso Sherry Cask Edition 46%. Christmas indulgence in a glass.
Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky
Nikka Coffey Grain is mostly made from corn that has been distilled in two of the Coffey Stills in the Miyagikyo distillery. It is a complex, sweet and mellow. Coffey Grain is a great introduction for someone to grain whisky and is part of a core production, no longer will you have to search for the Single Cask Single Grain bottling that are usually produced in limited numbers. The aromas are juicy, pleasant and contain notes of ripe pear, cherry and exotic fruits. The flavour profile is a great balance and made up of ripe fruit, banana and caramel (very reminiscent of a good sipping rum). The flavour develops on the palate with notes of liquorice and exotic spices like star anise amongst the light fruity flavours which all comes to a light bitter finish.
