Anwilka Red Wine
Anwilka is one of the most compelling estates to emerge from Stellenbosch , situated in the prime Helderberg ward of South Africa . The vineyards enjoy a pronounced maritime influence from nearby False Bay, where cooling summer breezes preserve freshness and extend the growing season. Planted across 39 hectares of iron-rich Koffieklip soils, this is a wine of genuine terroir and structural ambition. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in either new French oak barrels or in tank, followed by 19 months of ageing in 400-litre French oak barrels, split equally between first-fill and second-fill. Tasting Notes Bright ruby in colour with a deep, luminous core. The nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of red fruits, oak spice and white pepper. On the palate, bold and full-bodied, with perfumed flavours of poached plums, pencil shavings and a distinctive coastal salinity. Firm yet elegant tannins provide structure, while the texture is beautifully rounded, culminating in a long, rich and age-worthy finish. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for rich, slow-cooked dishes. Try it with venison casserole, braised short rib, roasted lamb shoulder or a classic Beef Wellington. Also excellent alongside aged h
