Auntsfield Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2019

Auntsfield Single Vineyard Chardonnay is an elegant, finely crafted New Zealand Chardonnay that reflects the cool‑climate character of Marlborough’s Southern Valleys. Made from estate‑grown fruit and handled with meticulous care, it balances purity, texture, and subtle oak influence, resulting in a Chardonnay that is both expressive and refined. Producer Auntsfield Estate is Marlborough’s first colonial vineyard site, revived by the Cowley family with a focus on heritage, terroir, and low‑intervention winemaking. Their single‑vineyard wines highlight the unique clay‑rich soils of the Southern Valleys, producing Chardonnays known for depth, minerality, and precision. Tasting Notes Pale gold in colour, the wine opens with aromas of white peach, citrus blossom, toasted hazelnut, and subtle brioche. The palate is layered and textural, showing ripe stone fruit, lemon curd, and gentle oak spice supported by fresh acidity and a fine mineral line. The finish is long, elegant, and beautifully balanced, combining richness with restraint. Food Pairing Serve lightly chilled at 10–12°C. Excellent with roast chicken, creamy pasta, grilled seafood, soft cheeses, and dishes featuring mushrooms or toasted nuts. Its balance of fruit and savoury complexity makes it versatile at the table.

Ghost Corner Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Ghost Corner The Bowline is the flagship white blend from David Nieuwoudt’s celebrated Ghost Corner range, crafted from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grown in the windswept coastal vineyards of Elim near Cape Agulhas. Named after the sailor’s “king of knots,” this wine symbolises the union between these two noble varieties, tied together by the cool maritime influence and stony soils of South Africa’s southernmost vineyards. The vines, rooted in South Bokkeveld slate, koffieklip, and gravel, yield grapes of remarkable intensity and purity. Meet the producer Ghost Corner wines draw inspiration from Spookdraai , a treacherous stretch of coastline near Elim where countless ships have been lost to the sea. Legend tells of ghostly sailors still wandering the misty shores — an evocative image mirrored in the haunting beauty of these wines. Crafted by acclaimed winemaker David Nieuwoudt, the range captures the untamed spirit and coastal energy of the Cape Agulhas region. Production Grapes are hand-harvested in the cool early morning between February and March, at 22.5–23.5°B, and vinified separately under reductive conditions to preserve delicate aromatics. After gentle crushing at 8°C and brief skin contact, the Sauvignon Blanc ferments in stainless steel tanks, while the Semillon is split between cement eggs (9%), new French oak (13%), second-fill barrels (13%), and older 400L barrels. Both components mature on fine lees for nine months before blending — 62% Sauvignon Blanc and 38% Semillon. Tasting notes The Bowline is an elegant, layered white blend with lifted aromas of green nettles, coastal scrub, and wild herbs, underpinned by hints of sea spray and flint. The palate is complex and finely textured, offering fresh citrus and subtle oak spice with a long, mineral finish that captures the ozone freshness of the Cape coastline. Beautifully balanced, it will evolve gracefully over four to ten years. Food match An ideal companion to Provençal-style chicken with green oliv
