AUXEY DURESSES 1er Cru Domaine Comte Armand 2021
A very pretty, even elegant, nose displays an array of extremely fresh and cool red berry fruit aromas that are subtly suffused with cool earth and forest floor wisps. There is fine mid-palate density to the impressively intense middleweight flavors that exude evident minerality on the firm, youthfully austere and balanced finish. This is dusty and compact at present but I suspect that it will open relatively quickly. In a word, lovely.
BARBARESCO Serraboella Cigliuti 2020
The Cigliuti family were the first to put Serraboella on the label, in 1967. 65-year-old vines, limestone soils. 26 months in botte and tonneaux. More red in the colour here than in the Vie Erte 2020 – more vibrant colour. Fabulous, open aroma of tangy red fruit – pretty, floral and yet intense. Thick but refined tannins. Many layers of finesse, great freshness and purity as well as incipient complexity. It is the tannins as much as the acidity that make this mouth-watering.
