Balvenie 'The Sweet Toast of American Oak' 12 Year Old

The story being spectacular things that can happen when ancient techniques meet fresh new innovative ideas. "Some would call us 'aff our heads', but I suppose you've got to try something really different now and again," explained Mashman Brian Webster. On the nose this bottling gives lusciously malty notes with some sweet fudge, followed by citrus and oak vanilla aromas with layers of spicy oak notes of ginger and cinnamon. On the palate it is candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee and butterscotch, layers and layers of blossom honey with some melted brown sugar and oak spices at the end. The finish is rich and full of malty notes with gentle waves of oak vanilla and subtle spice.

Clynelish 14 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

Clynelish 14 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is a coastal Highland dram known for its waxy texture, subtle peat smoke and citrus-driven complexity. Distilled at the Clynelish Distillery in Brora, Scotland, this 14-year-old single malt is matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and refill American oak casks. It serves as the flagship expression of the distillery and is widely appreciated for its distinctive character and role in Diageo’s blending portfolio, particularly in Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve. On the nose, it opens with fresh citrus, delicate florals and a touch of brine, underpinned by honey and beeswax. A few drops of water reveal waxy oiliness and dried tropical fruits, along with a faint rubbery note reminiscent of new boots. The palate is creamy and medium-bodied, offering citrus zest, sea salt and light smoke, with hints of gentle spice and sweet malt. The finish is slightly dry and lingering, marked by peppery warmth and a briny touch.
