Barolo Bussia Dardi le Rose Poderi Colla 2020

Poderi Colla Dardi le Rose Barolo is a classic, full-bodied red wine from a single vineyard on the renowned Bussia hill in Piemonte . Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo with an unwavering commitment to traditional winemaking, this is Barolo DOCG at its most expressive, combining elegance, structure, and genuine ageing potential. Meet the Producer Founded in 1993 by Tino Colla and his niece Federica, Poderi Colla is a family-run estate in Piemonte with a reputation for vineyard-focused, high-quality Barolo. Continuing the legacy of the legendary Beppe Colla, the estate produces wines that are a true expression of the unique terroir of Monforte d'Alba, made without compromise or shortcut. Vineyard and Production The Dardi le Rose single vineyard sits on the Bussia hill at 300 to 350 metres above sea level, with a southern and south-westerly exposure that ensures optimal ripening of the Nebbiolo vines. Grapes are harvested in mid-October, destalked, pressed, and macerated on skins for approximately 15 days before malolactic fermentation. The wine then matures in Slavonian and French oak casks for 24 to 28 months, developing the complexity, structure, and longevity that define great Barolo. Tasting Notes Aromatic with fresh red fruits, dried figs, and spice, complemented by herbal and mineral undertones. The palate is complex and beautifully balanced, with bright redcurrant fruit, fine tannins, and refreshing acidity. Approachable now, this wine will continue to evolve and reward patience for many years to come. Grape Variety Nebbiolo Perfect Pairings Pairs beautifully with veal chops, buttery egg pasta with shaved black truffle, and rich fish dishes such as roast turbot. A natural choice for special occasions and gourmet dining. About the Region Piemonte is home to some of Italy's most celebrated and age-worthy red wines, with Barolo standing as the undisputed king of the region. One of the stars of the Burgundy micro-négociant movement, Australian-born Jane Eyre-Renard is one of our all time-favourite producers, and the wines she’s been making in Burgundy are some of the most accessible in our whole portfolio. So, you can imagine our delight when we heard she was going back to her roots to make some wines Down Under! Sourced from two vineyards in Merricks, from vines with an average age of 30 years old, and vinified using 20% whole bunches, then aged for 10 months French Oak.
