BAROLO Monrobiolo di Bussia Barale Fratelli 2020
The 2020 Barolo Monrobiolo di Bussia is a powerful, searing wine. It shows very good energy and plenty of persistence, although the fruit is a bit hidden at this stage. It will be interesting to see if it opens with more time in bottle. These are relatively young vines for Barolo. The overall impression is one of austerity, more-so than in the other wines in the range.
CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY Vieilles Vignes Domaine Stéphane Magnien 2019
The oldest vines date back to 1902 and 1903 in Les Athées but with replacements of course. Dense black purple. The nose is heady but balanced, then the fruit explodes on the second half of the palate, really racy, the tannins are ripe, fruit is at optimum ripeness, but there is still good acidity too. Chapeau. Tasted: November 2020 4/5 stars
