BEAUNE 1er Cru Boucherottes Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot 2021
An exuberantly fresh nose freely offers up its aromas of red currant, crushed anise and a pretty floral top note. There is fine richness and very solid concentration to the fleshy and caressing medium-bodied flavors that deliver good if not special depth on the sneaky long finish. This is quite forward and could easily be enjoyed young if desired.
CHAMBOLLE MUSIGNY Vieilles Vignes Domaine Lignier-Michelot 2020
(from 50+ year old vines in Les Drazey and Gamaires). An overtly floral-suffused nose reflects additional notes of pretty red and dark cherry, raspberry and spiced tea. Here too the middle weight flavors possess a lovely sense of verve while terminating in a chiseled, clean and youthfully austere finish that is very Chambollesque in character.
