Berry Bros & Rudd 2005 Strathclyde Cask No. 106490 18 Year Old 56.5%
Strathclyde Grain Distillery is located in Glasgow, on the south side of the River Clyde. This area is far from the picturesque image of Highland distilleries, although it has played a vital part in Scotch whisky heritage since 1927. The nose is initially reticent but some time in the glass brings out subtle banana bread, coconut milk and peach. The palate, conversely, is a crescendo of rich vanilla, cream soda, desiccated coconut and dark chocolate. It is incredibly powerful and integrates well with the high alcohol. The finish brings tingling spice and more subtle vanilla. Grain whisky really hits its stride at around 18 years and this is a prime example.
Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 012
The very sought after emphatic, full bodied and utterly unforgettable, 10 Year Old Original Cask Strength Laphroaig is the authentic way to experience the rugged character of our uncompromising Scotch whisky. An Islay single malt that is matured in ex-bourbon barrels, barrier-filtered and bottled at natural distillery strength. This gives a depth of genuine taste and texture normally associated with sampling a whisky at its source. Whisky at cask strength may overpower the palate, but adding water will release a rich aroma of peat smoke with some sweetness and strong hints of the sea
