Berry Bros & Rudd 2005 Strathclyde Cask No. 106490 18 Year Old 56.5%
Strathclyde Grain Distillery is located in Glasgow, on the south side of the River Clyde. This area is far from the picturesque image of Highland distilleries, although it has played a vital part in Scotch whisky heritage since 1927. The nose is initially reticent but some time in the glass brings out subtle banana bread, coconut milk and peach. The palate, conversely, is a crescendo of rich vanilla, cream soda, desiccated coconut and dark chocolate. It is incredibly powerful and integrates well with the high alcohol. The finish brings tingling spice and more subtle vanilla. Grain whisky really hits its stride at around 18 years and this is a prime example.
Tomatin 18 Year Old Single Malt Whisky
Tomatin 18 Year Old is a refined and deeply complex Highland single malt from one of Scotland's most historic distilleries, nestled in the Monadhliath Mountains south of Inverness. Spending the majority of its eighteen years in traditional oak casks before a final period of finishing in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, it is bottled at 46% ABV and delivers a whisky of exceptional depth, richness, and elegance. One of the finest expressions in the Tomatin core range. Why You'll Love It Tomatin 18 is where the distillery's signature smoothness meets genuine sherry cask complexity, and the result is outstanding. The first-fill Oloroso finishing adds a layer of dark fruit, Christmas cake richness, and warming spice that elevates the whisky well beyond its approachable Highland character. Velvety, full-bodied, and beautifully balanced, it is a dram that rewards slow sipping and reflection. If you appreciate the harmony of long maturation and quality sherry cask influence, this is essential. Distillery & Maturation Tomatin Distillery was founded in 1897 in the village of Tomatin in the Scottish Highlands, sitting at over 1,000 feet above sea level in the Monadhliath Mountains. The 18 Year Old spends the majority of its maturation in traditional oak casks before being transferred to first-fill Oloroso sherry butts for a final finishing period, developing its signature richness and depth. Bottled at 46% ABV. Tasting Notes The nose opens with dried apricot, toasted nuts, and soft spice, followed by hints of honeyed fruit and mellow oak. On the palate, it is velvety and full-bodied, revealing layers of dark chocolate, Christmas cake, and citrus peel, with a gentle nuttiness and a touch of clove. The finish is long and elegant, leaving behind notes of sweet spice and sherry richness that linger gracefully. Best enjoyed neat or with a small drop of still water. Perfect Serve Enjoy neat to fully appreciate the depth of the Oloroso sherry cask finishing, or add a small drop of st
