This subtle Highlander initially offers charming aromas of malted barley and austere green fruits, as is often the way however a little time in the glass allows this whisky to open up and notes of manuka honey, lemon oil and cedar appear. The distillate’s fruity character dominates the palate bringing orange, underripe peach, green wine gums and honeyed toast. The finish shows waves of wood spice and a touch of vanilla. Macduff Distillery, located in Macduff town, sits on the shore of the Deveron Estuary. The town’s harbour became home to herring fleets, the mainstay of the town’s economy. The distillery is relatively modern, having being built in 1960.
Tomintoul 15 Year Old Port Wood Finish Single Malt
Tomintoul 15 years old Port Wood Finish is bottled at 46% to retain the whisky's unique and natural characteristics and subtlety of taste and by not chill filtering this expression it ensures that the aromatic components in the whisky are preserved to enhance impact and flavour profile. On the nose you will get summer fruits, strawberries and blackberries tempered with some toffee sweetness and cigar box spiciness. On the palate it is luscious and clean malt modified by fruity sweet port and some spicy oak tones. The finish is full and rich with lingering herbal spices and toffee sweetness.
