Berry Bros & Rudd 2009 Macduff Cask No. 700443 12 Year Old 51.9%

This subtle Highlander initially offers charming aromas of malted barley and austere green fruits, as is often the way however a little time in the glass allows this whisky to open up and notes of manuka honey, lemon oil and cedar appear. The distillate’s fruity character dominates the palate bringing orange, underripe peach, green wine gums and honeyed toast. The finish shows waves of wood spice and a touch of vanilla. Macduff Distillery, located in Macduff town, sits on the shore of the Deveron Estuary. The town’s harbour became home to herring fleets, the mainstay of the town’s economy. The distillery is relatively modern, having being built in 1960.

Whisky Heroes Showdown in Green Valley Dailuaine 15 Year Old 2010 1st Fill Manzanilla 55.5%

Whisky Heroes Showdown in Green Valley Dailuaine 15 Year Old 2010 1st Fill Manzanilla is a richly expressive Speyside single malt shaped by full maturation in a first fill Manzanilla sherry cask. The naturally weighty, malty character of Dailuaine meets the dry, saline edge of Manzanilla, creating a whisky with both depth and tension. Bottled at natural strength, it delivers a vivid, full‑flavoured profile that highlights the distillery’s robust spirit while adding layers of coastal freshness and sherry‑driven complexity. The nose opens with baked apple, honeyed malt and toasted nuts, followed by hints of sea breeze, chamomile and dry sherry. The palate is bold and textured, offering stewed orchard fruit, caramelised sugar, almond, white pepper and a subtle savoury note from the Manzanilla influence. The finish is long, warming and gently saline, with lingering fruit, spice and a refined, nutty dryness that speaks clearly of its cask heritage.
