BOLGHERI ROSSO Le Macchiole 2022
50% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah. Youthful, lustrous crimson. Full cherry nose with hints of cassis and damson supported by a suggestion of oak. Lots of juice and fruit but not heavy-handed. A rich layer of sandy tannins becoming more muscled on the finish, so I wouldn’t try this without food. More to come with further bottle ageing. (WS)

Aroma of zingy grapefruit and slightly herbal. I wondered if this was slightly corked but I think it is just very dry and stony on the palate. Steely, mineral, long. (JH) 13%
