Bollinger, La Grande Année Brut 2015
Having received a glowing 96 points from Antonio Galloni and Tyson Stelzer, Bolly has once again knocked it out the park and produced a worthy successor to the best-selling 2014. The house style of Bollinger tends towards richness and power, so in a warm vintage like 2015 the emphasis was on preserving balance and freshness in the wine, and they have very much succeeded. La Grande Année is the embodiment of the carefully preserved traditional expertise of the Bollinger Champagne House. The wine is therefore exclusively vinified in small aged oak barrels. Champagne Bollinger has never abandoned this traditional craft method, which helps develop aromas of great finesse. After a prolonged ageing on its lees, even today every bottle of La Grande Année is riddled and disgorged by hand.
Dom Pérignon, Vintage 2015
Dom Pérignon 2015 earned an impressive 96 points from Vinous’ Antonio Galloni, placing it firmly among Galloni’s top 10 Champagnes of the vintage. No surprise there - this is Dom Pérignon, after all! The 2015 growing season was warm and presented occasional challenges, yet the winemaking team was thrilled with the quality of the harvested Pinot Noir, describing it as " fruity and powerful, ample and structured, altogether full and delicate ." Chardonnay, however, required careful sorting due to variability, but the final wine achieves a signature Dom Pérignon balance with its nearly 50/50 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Collectors will find the 2015 vintage particularly intriguing, as it offers a distinct profile within the iconic Dom Pérignon lineup. This release stands as a remarkable addition to the DP portfolio, showcasing both the vintage's character and the house’s timeless finesse. Please note that this Champagne is offered without a gift box.
