Bollinger RD, - '2024 Release' 2008
Cases of 6 are presented in original wooden cases. One of our fastest selling wines in 2023 was the first disgorgement of Bollinger’s much anticipated R.D. 2008 – awarded 98+ points by The Wine Advocate’s William Kelley and the accolade " The finest R. D. of the decade ". The maison has now released a second, even later disgorgement with the wine having spent a further 11 months resting prior to release. The 2008 is a blend of 71% Pinot Noir and 29% Chardonnay: 90% of the fruit is from Grand Cru vineyards (and the remainder from Premier Crus) - mainly Ay and Verzenay for the Pinot Noir, and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant for the Chardonnay. This latest disgorgement took place at the end of October 2023, a full year after the first release, adding even more complexity from a staggering 15 years on its lees. Only 3g dosage was added, ensuring this is firmly extra dry. Truly a Champagne for the ages, this is an exceptional expression of the top cuvée from one of the finest maisons in a vintage that will stand alongside the greatest of all time.
Krug, Vintage Brut 2013
Krug's Vintage Brut is never a simple declaration of a year; it is Krug's argument for why that year deserved to be bottled at all. The 2013 is a fascinating one: a cool, late harvest that demanded patience and conviction, two things Krug has never been short of. The blend leans on Pinot Noir for structure, with Chardonnay providing the spine of citrus and chalk, and a touch of Meunier rounding things out. Six years on the lees before disgorgement has given it that characteristic Krug density: toasted, layered, unhurried. To give a sense of quality, 2013 is the joint second-highest rated vintage on Vinous ever, stretching back to 1906, and many of the region’s top producers have already racked up top marks. Krug’s secondary market is famously strong - the House ranked 6th in Liv-Ex's Power 100, the highest of any Champagne - and the 2013 is a real feather in Krug’s cap.
