Bolney Estate Pinot Gris 2023

' Bolney Wine Estates is considered as one of the pioneers of the English wine industry, with 50 years of experience under its belt. Located in the heart of rural Sussex, the first vines were planted in 1972 by Rodney and Janet Pratt, the parents of Sam Linter who headed the family business until recently. Half a century later, the expert team there work throughout the year to ensure the vines are perfectly tended to yield the highest quality grapes. Bolney now produces an array of award-winning red, white, rose and sparkling English wines. The winery won UK Wine Producer of the Year in the International Wine and Spirit Competition in 2012. Since then, it was also presented with the title of Winery of the Year 2017 at the UK Wine Awards. The estate has continues to invest in specialist machinery and, in 2019, it opened a new state-of-the-art winery. With the ethos Guided by Nature since 1972, sustainability is at the heart of the winery's operations. This includes practicing responsible waste management, installing solar panels on the winery's roof and using bottles that are 100% recyclable. Recommended by James Davis, Master of Wine - one of the most accomplished professionals in the wine business: ''Delicate and aromatic Pinot Gris, perfect with salads and light dishes or on its own. Made down at the Bolney Wine Estate in Sussex, it shows what a great job English wineries are doing to produce still as well as sparkling wines. World class and stands tall against Pinot Gris from Germany, New Zealand and France'' '

Catherine Marshall Chenin Blanc Fermented in Clay 2023

This Chenin Blanc is meticulously grown in the cool Elgin Valley, with a small portion sourced from old bush vines in Stellenbosch. The wine is fermented in hand-crafted clay amphorae and neutral oak, creating a beautifully layered profile with fresh yellow stone fruit, delicate white floral notes, and flinty, wet-stone tension that lends balance and structure. Vineyard & Terroir Sourced from the Kogelberg Biosphere and Stellenbosch, the vineyards provide a cool climate and diverse soils that enhance aromatic complexity and freshness. Winemaking After careful sorting, the grapes are partially crushed and fermented in clay amphorae and neutral oak. Partial malolactic fermentation in oak preserves the flinty, fresh character, while the amphora component retains vibrant acidity. The two components are blended after 11 months of maturation before bottling. Tasting Notes Bright yellow stone fruit aromas with floral accents and a flinty, mineral-driven palate. Elegant, balanced, and layered, with a fresh, harmonious finish. Food Pairing Pairs well with seafood, grilled chicken, light salads, and creamy vegetable dishes.
