Intense, big, rich and brooding, there is plenty of ripe, unctuous fruit with some present but rounded tannins and some savoury notes on the finish of coffee and smoked bacon.
ÉCHEZEAUX Grand Cru Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot 2020
(from a .45 ha parcel in Les Treux where Clos de Vougeot meets Grands Echézeaux). A slightly roasted character is present on the aromas of baked plum, cherry liqueur and port-like wisps. There is better freshness to the juicy, suave and palate coating medium weight plus flavors that possess excellent richness if not quite the same concentration, all wrapped in a lingering bitter chocolate-inflected finale.
