Bouchard Finlayson Pinot Noir Galpin Peak 2021
Galpin Peak is an elegant and refined Pinot Noir from Bouchard Finlayson, crafted to showcase the unique terroir of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Fragrant red cherry aromas are layered over subtle mineral undertones, with fine tannins supporting a delicate yet vibrant structure. The wine offers a refined oak influence and a long, rewarding finish. Vineyard & Terroir Sourced from eight estate vineyards, the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley provides ideal soils and climate for Pinot Noir, giving precise balance, natural acidity, and aromatic complexity. Winemaking Each vineyard plot is vinified separately to accentuate its distinct characteristics. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation and matures in French oak barrels, with a portion of new oak, before blending and bottling. Tasting Notes Bright, fragrant red cherry and subtle forest floor aromas. The palate is elegant, layered, and approachable, with gentle tannins, a mineral backbone, and a long, polished finish. Food Pairing Pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, duck, mushroom dishes, and soft cheeses. Grape Variety Pinot Noir Awards James Suckling: 94 pts Tim Atkin MW: 92 pts Platter: 92 pts
Hautes-Côtes De Nuits, Pierre Meurgey 2021
Pierre Meurgey is a fourth generation winemaker now bottling some incredibly wines under his own name and is only now being discovered (his recent 2020s were very well regarded by Jasper Morris). His father Henri was a courtier and oenologue in the Cote d’Or and was indeed very highly respected by all growers - Pierre is also one to watch, with the 2018 Savigny Les Bas Lairds getting a terrific four-star review from Jasper, whilst the Pernand Vergelesses 2019 is 1er Cru is also a stunner.
