Bourgogne Chardonnay, Domaine Alain Chavy 2021
Established in 2003, Domaine Alain Chavy spans approximately 17 acres, primarily in Puligny-Montrachet, with additional holdings in Chassagne and Meursault. Alain Chavy is recognised for producing restrained, structured, and long-lived white Burgundies. His 2021 Bourgogne Chardonnay strikes the perfect balance between freshness and richness. Juicy ripe fruit flavours with a touch of minerality, and a long, satisfying finish.
Viré-Clessé Vieilles Vignes, Meurgey-Croses 2023
"This single-vineyard wine from old vines (65-95 years) offers salinity and minerality, with fresh lime and pithy citrus on the palate. Fermented in large barrels with no new oak, it’s a precise, well-balanced wine with a sapid finish." Our note Pierre Meurgey is a rising star in Burgundy, blending tradition with modern techniques to craft precise and terroir-driven wines. His focus is on showcasing the nuanced characteristics of each appellation, from the Mâconnais to the Côte de Beaune. The 2023 vintage was particularly noteworthy, beginning with uncertainty due to a sudden heatwave in early September. Thanks to early harvesting, Pierre achieved balanced ripeness and avoided overripeness, producing wines with finesse, vibrant fruit, and excellent ageing potential. Both reds and whites are approachable young yet structured.
