Bourgogne Chardonnay, Domaine de Montille 2020
Our visits to de Montille get (thankfully) longer each year as we continue to deepen our relationship with Étienne, Brian and the team. I can’t think of another address in Burgundy that has such strength in its domaine whites and Côte de Beaune reds (and the highly sought after Vosne-Romanée ‘Malconsorts’ cherry on top) so we are delighted to carry a good selection from across their portfolio. "Aged in 600-litre barrels with plenty of lees stirring during its eleven month’s elevage, to give a lot more texture and a little more than weight than you would expect from a regional wine. From plots which Étienne purchased from Château de Puligny Montrachet, near Corpeaux and some declassified Montagny too. "This is a brilliant wine from a top class vintage. It shows the best of the 2020 characteristics with ripe lemon citrus fruit, but that classic freshness we are so used to from Etienne's wines. Mineral and chalky notes give this such a clean feel too. No wonder Brian is super happy with the results." Our note
Kovacs Nimrod Battonage Chardonnay 2023
On the nose you will get aromas of buttered toast and fresh tropical fruit. On the palate fresh fruit from lemon, pear, pineapple with a complex caramel undertone followed by the buttery character from the oak. This wine will give you a long and elegant finish. This wine is made with 100% Chardonnay grape from Nagyfai and Nyilasmar vineyards, aged on its lees in small French and Hungarian oak barrels for 12 months. Food Pairing: Enjoy this chardonnay with poultry, pork, seafood or a light pasta.
