BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO Podere Giodo di Carlo Ferrini 2018
Mid to deep ruby. Closed nose with just hints of Moroccan leather. Rich, tangy cherry with a whiff of oak and charged with polished, but firm, tannins. Super-seductive and with the Ferrini signature all over it – the eternal smooth operator. Long, but not fully open yet, and the tannins need to dissolve a little more into the fruit. Shows real potential and promise and is not short of appeal.
PULIGNY MONTRACHET Tremblots Domaine Hubert Lamy 2021
The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Les Tremblots, which suffered only 10% frost damage, offers shucked oyster shell on the nose. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, maybe just missing its usual tension and nerve, though there is satisfying length with a sour lemon twist on the finish.
