BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO Podere Giodo di Carlo Ferrini 2018
Mid to deep ruby. Closed nose with just hints of Moroccan leather. Rich, tangy cherry with a whiff of oak and charged with polished, but firm, tannins. Super-seductive and with the Ferrini signature all over it – the eternal smooth operator. Long, but not fully open yet, and the tannins need to dissolve a little more into the fruit. Shows real potential and promise and is not short of appeal.
The Hilt Bentrock Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sta Rita Hills, Santa Barbara 2019
A big wine but with elegance, spicy black pepper notes meld with blackberry and a menthol note. Savoury on the palate with a meaty depth, hints of black tea and black fruits.
